VaultBar performs strong encryption and decryption entirely on your Mac – no cloud, no telemetry, no background daemons – your data never leaves your device. Built for speed and clarity, it gets out of the way while keeping you in control. VaultBar streamlines secure encryption into a clean, minimal workflow. All operations run locally. The app automatically recognizes whether a file should be encrypted or decrypted, preventing double-handling and mistakes.

Use Touch ID for quick confirmation, with a password always available as a fallback. Choose a KDF profile that balances speed and security for your Mac, and adjust chunk size to keep large jobs responsive. Writes are in-place and atomic to protect file integrity, and original extensions are restored on decrypt for predictable results. A concise history summarizes recent jobs with clear success and error states. Built with SwiftUI, VaultBar feels fully native in both light and dark mode, with smooth, unobtrusive animations.

Encryption Details

  • AES-256-GCM for authenticated encryption (confidentiality + integrity).
  • Keys derived via PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256 with a per-file random salt and calibrated iterations.
