Privacy Policy
We care about your privacy. Your data stays on your device — full stop.
Data Collection
FolderDock does not collect personal data. The App Store app and optional Companion run locally on your device and do not:
- Send information to external servers
- Read or transmit the contents of files inside your folders
- Use analytics, tracking SDKs, or advertising identifiers
What Information Is Processed
FolderDock and the optional Companion process only the information needed to display your folders and open the items inside them, including:
- Folder names you create
- References (file paths and security-scoped bookmarks) to apps, files, and folders you add
- Display order and the folder a particular item belongs to
All processing happens locally on your Mac and is never transmitted.
Data Storage
The App Store app stores its folder definition inside its App Group container on your Mac. The optional Companion stores additional folder definitions in your user Application Support folder and installs generated Dock apps in your user-level Applications folder. FolderDock does not use iCloud, a cloud service, or any external storage.
Permissions
FolderDock asks for permission only when you explicitly add files or folders that live outside its sandbox. Those permissions are stored as security-scoped bookmarks so the app can re-open the same items later without asking again. The optional Companion may also create or remove generated local apps in your user-level Applications folder when you manage additional folders. You can remove an item at any time, which also discards its bookmark.
Changes to This Policy
We may revise this policy from time to time. Updates will appear in app release notes and on this page.
