Setup guides, troubleshooting steps, and answers to common questions.
Getting started
- Install the app and launch it.
- Open the menu bar item to view live traffic, system activity, and network status.
- Choose what appears next to the menu bar icon in Settings or from the right-click menu.
- Customize the Overview cards and reorder them with drag and drop.
- Optional: download and launch the NET Status Companion to enable Advanced mode with grouped processes, connections, GPU usage, and temperatures.
The App Store version works on its own in Core mode. The background companion is optional, not standalone, and only extends the Store app with Advanced diagnostics.
Troubleshooting
- Menu bar shows no traffic: Make sure the interface traffic monitor is enabled in Settings. Short idle periods can show zero even while the Mac remains online.
- Only Core mode is shown: Core mode is the standard App Store mode. Advanced mode requires the optional background companion and a paired Store app.
- Advanced data does not appear: Launch the Companion once, keep NET Status installed from the Mac App Store, and wait a few seconds for a fresh diagnostics snapshot.
- CPU or GPU temperature is missing: Temperature values are only available in Advanced mode and depend on whether the Companion can read supported Apple Silicon sensor data.
- Overview feels crowded: Open Settings, hide optional Overview cards, or reset the Overview layout.
